Round 2: Vila Real Historic Circuit

A really tight schedule has seen the second round of the Campeonato Nacional de Velocidade taking place on the historic street circuit of Vila Real, Portugal. Starting on Saturday morning with 20 minutes of Free Practice only, official driver Stefano De Val had to learn the track and find his pace on just a few laps of the 7km track passing through the city center.

A (4387)

During Qualifying 1 and 2 Stefano placed on 4th and 2nd place on the grid, using the same strategy that helped him winning both races in the opening event at Vasco Sameiro. Unfortunately, the overall 15 laps done before Race 1 were not enough to keep up the pace with the local drivers, and The first 45 minutes Race ended with Stefano arriving 3rd (4th overall) at the checkered flag.

On Sunday, Race 2 started very well has the italian driver was able to take the lead of the race ahead of Carlos Viera in the tortuous uphill section of the track. Only after a contact with the car behind Stefano had to lose first place, while issues at the pit stops, a safety car and a wrongly exposed blue flag, forced him to finish the race in 5th place.

Next race will be held at  Circuit Algarve, Portimao, on 19/20 July.
